"OUTDOOR DISCOVERY THAT FOSTERS A SENSE OF STEWARDSHIP TOWARDS OUR ENVIRONMENT"
The Magic Of Salmon
Guided by a mission to reunite people with the natural world, the “magic of salmon” welcomes thousands of visitors annually to engage in outdoor discovery at our 10 acre living classroom. Set along the banks of the Shuswap River amidst the lush interior rainforest, the centre is one of the few places in B.C. that engages participants with a first hand experience of salmon, the habitat that supports them, and that they in turn support.
School district classes who study and raise salmon from egg to fry in classroom aquariums arrive daily throughout the fall and spring to participate in award-winning ecological education programs. Individuals or small groups (six or less) wishing to join these life- long and inspiring activities are most welcome. Please call ahead so we can fit you in. You can even participate in our annual salmon brood stock capture and egg collection activities in early October or the fry release in late June.
Throughout the summer, knowledgeable staff are usually available to share the magic of salmon with visitors from around the world and to provide specialized programs, child-friendly activities, opportunities for quiet reflection and so much more.
